FAQ's - Embroidery Digitizing FAQ's

Digitizing, or Punching, is the process of converting artwork into a digital code that can be read by today's advanced embroidery machines. This digital code provides the instructions to the embroidery machine's operating system which, in turn, tells the embroidery machine's frame how to sew the design. The word Punching actually comes from the traditional jacquard embroidery machines. The instructions that tell the machine's frame how to move and sew the embroidered design come from a tape punched with holes. Digitizing, or Punching, is the process of converting your artwork design into a digital embroidery pattern that can be read by the embroidering machines. A skillful digitizing artist uses embroidery digitizing software to interpret your particular artwork design - from either vector format artwork or scanned artwork (.bmp, .tiff) - to a digital embroidery pattern.
We can accept just about everything from a computer generated image, to a scanned image. All we really need is a relatively clear image with the colour separations. If we are not sure we understand what the image is we will call or provide an art proof for you to verify the image with us.
We can read all of the following formats: jpg, bmp, ai(illustrated), pdf, eps, tif, gif, pcx, cdr, cpt, wmf, pct or pict. These are the most common formats, but if you have a format not listed here send it anyway we are pretty good at this. Our favorite is the jpg format. It is generic and can be saved/exported by just about every piece of software available.
We support all wide spread embroidery formats. If your format is not in the list please contact us and we'll find solution to be at your service. The list of currently supported formats is:
